I am gay!

Man is a masochist by nature for he always keeps himself preoccupied with some apprehensions and dreads the very idea of things going what the world term as “out of control”. With different eras came different anxieties. In earlier times people spent time worrying to have male child and with the birth of a girl child started the pressure of accumulating enough for dowry and finding a suitor. As societies advanced people feared the thought of their children falling in love and took every measure to preclude the nightmare of them eloping. In this 21st century people have managed to gather one more of its kind. They fear any possible sexual divergence of their kids.

It is taken and expected that a person’s sexual inclination is towards someone from the opposite gender- a very mechanical way of looking at relationships. The logic is flawed here for gender is designated based on physical aspects and attraction is governed by feelings that are engendered through complex processes happening in the brain. When it comes to feelings it is the mind that governs ones conduct and not the body. This call to revise our academics for what an ox is to a cow may not always hold true in case of what a man is to a woman.

Why human beings involve in relationships? Putting it in other words, what is the basis of any relationship? Man throughout his life apart from material aspirations look for three things in life: love, happiness and peace. Every person yearns to be loved by someone. As a kid he seeks for parental love and as an adult he looks for that love through companionship. Again love or affection is something that comes out through the mind, so it doesn’t changes it’s meaning depending on a person’s physical elements. Adulthood adds one more dimension to desires- physical love/pleasure (in addition to platonic love) which also is manifestation of emotions and thus it does not abide by the boundaries of gender.

In the world there do exist the worst form of mental torture: pressure to be a person who you are not. Owing to the attitude of the societies towards people with different sexual preferences who have inclinations towards same gender or both genders, these people start hiding their identity from everybody they know. It is equivalent to committing suicide as you suppress your original self from being exhibited. On top of it they put efforts to act like and be a person as it would be acceptable to others. And the most awful aspect of this act is that one feels comfortable if someone not related closely knows about your inclinations but not the closest ones.

It is sad that the entities whom most cultures refer to LGBTQ who despite being an integral part of human society since civilizations have to strive to make way for their acceptance. They battle to prove themselves normal. It’s an assumption of an individual that whatever is in majority is normal and so rest everything qualifies as abnormal. With that context there is nothing like divergence here, it’s just people don’t want to accept what is out of their range of understanding and shy away by attaching negative connotations to the issues. It’s a general tendency to claim only those things right which one wants to accept wilfully and attribute things to be ignominious which one deliberately doesn’t want to accept and understand.

This kind of matters adduces the level of maturity in terms of thought process a society as a whole possesses. It also reflects the state of mind of existing social order. Societies should work towards developing their citizens with a receptive mind. Flexibility of one’s mind determines how much a person thereby a society as a whole is refined and refinement is all what speaks about development in all spheres of that environment.

Lastly, nobody has a say or right to question anyone’s acceptability. Never try to prove yourself to anybody and begin with becoming acceptable to one’s own self first and be proud to say: “Yes, I am gay”!

  1. but its India and its very difficult for Indian people to accept the lgbt group and also its difficult for lgbt people because some people will try to use gay people as toy so its really difficult for one to be open in the society and also it will be difficult for gay people to trust anyone especially in India.
